Dr. Marie Thompson

Dr. Marie Thompson is a Clinical and Research Psychologist who trained in the UK. She has a specialist interest in trauma, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and victims of human rights violation. At Webster, Dr. Thompson is the Head of Department of Behavioural and Social Sciences and is responsible for the careers counseling service. Dr. Thompson also works for Equator Foundation in Amsterdam (an organization providing psychosocial support to victims of human rights violations) and in private practice in The Hague. Prior to her recent move to The Netherlands, Dr. Thompson lived and worked in London, working in the National Health Service with adults with severe and enduring mental health problems and in the Traumatic Stress Service at St George’s Hospital. thompson@webster.nl

Mr. Art De La Loza is an American attorney and former NATO officer in Europe. He has offered graduate and undergraduate courses in Orange County, California, Los Angeles, London, Geneva, and Leiden. He has served as a bank officer, and managed the City Treasurer’s Office for the City of Huntington Beach, California, where he also held the positions of Contract Administrator, and Deputy City Attorney. Mr. De La Loza was also responsible for advising on, prosecuting, and defending, federal and state civil cases to arbitration and trial. He is a former member of the University of California, Los Angeles, Extension, Advisory Board for the Attorney Assistant Training Program, and holds an MA, J.D., and a post-doctorate LL.M. Dr. Leonard Suransky

Mr. Leonard Suransky was born and schooled in South Africa. He has a BA from Hebrew University Jerusalem, a MSc in International Relations from London School of Economics and a PhD from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He has taught in the US, South Africa, UK, Copenhagen and The Netherlands. He trains diplomats at Clingendael and at the Foreign Service Institute, Pretoria. Leonard designs simulation exercises for international conflict management and specializes in African politics and identity politics. suransky@webster.nl
Julian Scaff MFA/MA
Head of Department of Media Communications
Mr. Julian Scaff has an M.F.A. in Public Art from the Dutch Art Institute, an M.A. in Film and Television Critical Studies from UCLA, and a B.A. (honors) in Film and Video from Pitzer College. As a filmmaker and media artist Julian is keenly interested in the emergence of new media genres such as video and audio casting for mobile devices and the convergence of old and new media. His documentary films have been shown at international film festivals and on Dutch public television, his media artworks have been exhibited around Europe, the United States and Southeast Asia, and his radio shows have been broadcast in Amsterdam, London, Paris and Beirut. scaff@webster.nl
