English Policy

English Policy for All Students

All Webster programs encourage participation and interaction. Therefore, to succeed at Webster, all students must be proficient in Academic English. For that reason, it is our policy to test students' Academic English proficiency during the admissions process.

It is Webster University's policy that all applicants who are not English native speakers from the US, Canada, Great Britain, Australia, Ireland, or New Zealand must take the TOEFL, IELTS, or the Cambridge Advanced certificate as part of their application.

Because we want our students to be academically successful in our rigorous, all-English language undergraduate and graduate programs, we have instituted the above mentioned English proficiency exams as an application requirement.

Webster University accepts official TOEFL test scores (Paper based, Computer Based and Internet Based) and offers an institutional TOEFL test (including the Test of Written English and the Test of Spoken English) to Webster applicants living in The Netherlands. Students who live abroad are advised to visit www.ets.org to select their nearest test location. The official Webster ETS TOEFL code is 0548.

Applicants must score at least 550 points (undergraduate) and 575 points (graduate) on the TOEFL. They must also write an essay in English at the university (Test of Written English) and demonstrate oral competency (Test of Spoken English) prior to admittance to Webster. TSE and TWE results will be taken into account during the application review and are included in the TOEFL requirements.

Applicants must register in advance.
Registration for the TOEFL exam is only valid once the €40 has been transferred into our account. Click here for the bank details.
