Webster University shines by light installation

The new Webster Vienna location First Bank puts new campus in the right light during grand opening of new Vienna location

VIENNA, AUSTRIA (OCT. 27, 2014) - On the occasion of the official opening of the new location for Webster Vienna Private University, the facade of the Palais Wenkheim – the University’s new home -  will be illuminated for three days through a light installation that will reflect an image on the building.

The installation’s primary sponsor is longtime partner Erste Group Bank AG.

"The light installation is a symbol of the transformation of what already exists in a new look,” said Mag. Gernot Mittendorfer, member of Erste Group Bank AG. “The new campus in the historic Palais corresponds to the high Quality of Webster University, the guarantor of a first-class education."

For three days, from Oct. 27 through Oct. 29, two high-performance large-screen slide projectors will project a five-meter-high image on the university building. The blue-yellow design reflects the logo colors of Webster University and is a striking contrast in the night-time cityscape.

"For over 30 years, the Webster Vienna Private University offers students from around the World an international education at the heart of Europe,” said Arthur Hirsh, director of Webster Vienna Private University. “With the relocation and investments in the modern, new campus, those goals are connected. In the next 10 years, we hope to double our student population to about 1000. We thank our partner Erste Bank for their active support and this projection, which will draw attention to our new facility."

The projection will conclude the evening of Oct. 29 with the official opening ceremony under the patronage of Dr. Heinz Fischer. At the ceremony, guests will be treated to a champagne reception, followed by comments from several VIP guests, including Webster University President Elizabeth (Beth) J. Stroble; Webster Provost, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Julian Schuster; U.S. Ambassador to Austria Alexa Wesner; and Andreas Mailath-Pokorny, the executive city councillor for Cultural Affairs and Science for Vienna. That will be followed by guided tours of the new building, live music and a dinner. The entire ceremony will be live streamed here at 1 p.m. Central Time.
