Webster University Launches New Responsive Website

Part of $1 Million Investment in IT Infrastructure Improvements

Webster University has launched a new responsive website featuring enhanced technology and leading-edge website design to better reflect Webster's position as a global leader in higher education.

The new site is part of a $1 million investment in the University's information infrastructure designed to enhance Webster's academic teaching environment, streamline communications among Webster's domestic and international campus locations, and support the University's global mission and vision.

"Investments in our technology infrastructure provide the foundation for effective interactions among members of Webster's globally diverse community and support those who are new to Webster University to engage us with ease,” said Webster University President Elizabeth (Beth) J. Stroble.

Webster educates nearly 21,000 students around the world, including 9,000 who also take courses and programs online.

“The new website enhances a student's digital experience with a dynamic University and advances our mission of transforming students for global citizenship and individual excellence,” Stroble said.

“It's about alignment,” said Julian Schuster, provost, senior vice president and chief operating officer. “With these significant infrastructure improvements, we take a strategic step toward enhancing academic and operational excellence through offering leading-edge technology. Our digital visitors are located all over the world and the new technology will enable them to easily access our content on any kind of mobile device.”

According to Patrick Powers, director of digital marketing and communications, approximately 7.5 percent (or 56,000) of Webster's monthly website traffic is coming from mobile devices. “Access from mobile devices is up 143 percent over the same time period last year,” he said. “Students' needs are changing and Webster is changing with them.”

The new site features responsive design throughout with the capability to adjust to whatever electronic device accesses the site.
